Gospel of St. Luke 2:14

'Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors' !

A simple yet resounding message announcing the birth of God’s promised Messiah, the mediator between Heaven and Earth, between God and man.  A message that would otherwise strike fear into men, but given as Good News of great joy for all people. An angelic proclamation contrasting and paralleling Heaven with Earth.  A message given not to royalty, nor to the leaders among men, but to lowly sheep herders who were were tending to their sheep by night.

These could have been anyone. What if it were you?  Would you be afraid?  Would you think you had lost your mind?  Imagine the awe.

God’s Glory in Heaven = Peace on Earth among men.  Why?

In this case, as the billboard says, “Jesus Is the Answer!”

With His birth, God has become man and bridged the abyss, he has brought Heaven to Earth and Earth to Heaven.  With His humble and eternal Presence He has set up kinship with us by divinizing our frail humanity through which He reveales His Glory.  In God’s Incarnation all enmity has been removed from those upon whom His favor rests.

The message is not for the world leaders.  It’s for you.  God’s Glory in Christ is revealed for you!  His favor rests on you and your families this blessed Advent season as you prepare to Humbly receive the Good News of great joy in both your Homes and in our Church, singing,
