Christ is Risen from the Dead - Turn to the Light of the Knowledge of God"Ye are all sons of the light. " Thessalonians 5:5From his Creation, mankind has desired to have an intimate knowledge of God. Through sin, and the disobedience of our first father, Adam, the likeness of God with which we were created was tarnished, whereafter we were cast into the darkness of sin, and its consequence--death. We no longer had the vision of, nor could we be the reflectors of the "light of the knowledge of God." While in this world, sin still rules thc sons of darkness, Christians have seen a new light, the light that shines forth from the Empty Tomb. From that tomb shines the light of not only the knowledge of God, but the very life of God--the Light of Christ! ! Jesus Christ, born from a Virgin Womb, suffered, died and was resurrected from a Virgin Tomb, so that the descendants of Adam might be transformed into the sons of light, co-heirs with Christ in his eternal kingdom of which there is no end. The Light of the knowledge of God is that light which transforms and transfigures human-beings into both the image and likeness of God, the icon of Christ who is the perfect man. This transformation recreates man into the noble and God pleasing being free from sin and corruption which he was created to be from the beginning, as the crown of creation. His Light fonns in us a new heart, one filled with love for God and the desire to be wholly dependant on Him. Changed from dark to light, our desires are changed from selfish to selfless. It is this transfonnation that enables man to "conduct himself in a manner worthy of the Gospel." (Phil. 1 :27) It is my prayer that the true light of the knowledge of God illuminate your lives, with hope and with newness. May the uncreate light of Christ, which has no beginning, re-create you in His likeness so that you may have no end and eternally glorify Him together with His Father and Holy Spirit, now and always and unto ages of ages, Amen. With the Love of Christ, I remain prayerfully, Fr. Shnork Souin |
