BROKEN PROMISES, PROMISES KEPTIt is better to take refuge in the LORD Than to trust in man. Psalm 118:8 By Fr. Shnork Souin
Isaiah 9:6
A number of days ago, during that last minute Christmas shopping spree, I had my kids at the Pen Centre and decided to go and get a picture of them done with Santa. While the kids were nestled on Santa’s lap, they proceeded to tell him what they would like for Christmas. Santa "promised" to remember their requests as long as they were good.I thought, how can he promise this to kids? What about all the good kids who are poor and from broken families? Who is he that kids could trust his promise? We unfortunately live in a world of "good intentions" "broken promises" and un-trust-worthy "Santas." But, there is however One in Whom we can place our trust implicitly. That One is the God and Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. From the days of old God promised a saviour, the "Mighty God, wonderful counselor, the Prince of Peace," whom He sent with power and authority in the fulness of time, born of a Virgin, Who "yet while we were sinners" died for us winning for us the gift of life. This One born unto us is the child that became our saviour, not because we were good, but because he promised. By conquering death and thus the enemy of our life, we no longer need the false and empty hope of the undelivered "promises" of this world. Praise God and Glorify Him in the Highest Heavens so that we might always be held in His provident care, placing our burden and despair on His All-mighty shoulders. On Him who will carry us according to His PROMISE, to the Promised land of Life Eternal, Amen. Blessed is the revelation of Christ, let us glorify Him!!! In Christ’s love Fr. Shenork |
