Prayer for Sailors

Praise be to our Lord Jesus Christ!  Heavenly Father: we pray for (name) who begins his honorable service in the United States Navy.  Embrace him with your mighty protection and grant him success in all his rightful undertakings. Grant him in all hours of need to see that you remember him, and grant him grace in the hour of danger to commit his soul into your hands.

O Lord Jesus Christ, who can rebuke the storm and bring it to silence, and lay the roaring waves to rest, keep your servant (name) anchored in the holy and apostolic faith, keep him safe from all harm and danger finally bringing him to the harbor of life and salvation. Fortify him with the virtues of faith, hope and love which you graciously delivered to him in the waters of baptism.  Bless him, save him from enemies visible and invisible and make him worthy to glorify you together with your Father and Holy Spirit, now and always and unto the ages. Amen.

 

Frail is our vessel, and the ocean is wide; but as in your mercy you have set our course, so steer the vessel of our life towards the everlasting shore of peace, and bring us at length to the quiet haven of our heart's desire, where you, O God, are blessed, and live and reign for ever and ever. Amen.
