The Introit

The Introit is a liturgical word from Latin that means introduction. It is the name of the "hymn" that introduces the canonical hours of which there are 9. The Introit is generally a Psalm however most familiar to people today is the Introit of the Divine Liturgy which is generally heard in our church on "Resurrection Sundays". It is named the "Miadzin Vorti," or in English the "Only Begotten Son..." written in 535AD by the emperor Justinian. The original Greek is called the "Monogenes". It is a confession of faith written to safeguard the Orthodoxy of the church against false teaching. There are 13 various Introits used in the Divine Liturgy throughout the year .

The Introit or Monogenes/Miadsin Vorti

Only Begotten Son and Word of God and Immortal Being

Who for our salvation willed to be Incarnate of the Holy Birth-Giver of God (Asdvadsadsin) and Ever-Virgin.

Who became man without change, and was crucified. Who trampled down death by dying.

O Christ Our God, Who is one of the Holy Trinity glorified with the Father and the Holy Spirit, save us.
